“Where are the girls?”: listening and unsilencing female voices in futsal
DOI:

This experience report presents an intervention carried out with adolescent girls participating in a social
futsal project located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, as part of a curricular internship. Through
a research-intervention methodology, a group was formed to address the lack of female representation
and to advocate for gender equity in sports. The initiative aimed to amplify dissident voices that contest
the masculinized and gendered norms present in futsal. The work explored gender dynamics shaping the
subjective experiences of femininities in sports, the influence of territorial and social contexts on subject
formation, and the effects of systematic silencing on the mental health of the participants. The process
revealed the richness of affective bonds, involvement, and sensitivity in practices of listening and unsilencing.
