Abstract

For many companies, the first attempt of manage organizational knowledge has been the construction of information stores. However, only the technology infrastructure does not guarantee the success of an initiative of knowledge management. In this context, this study has the purpose to identify the factors that had influenced in the process of implantation of the Center for Technological Information and Trade of Tropical Fruit (Centro de Informações Tecnológicas e Comerciais para Fruticultura Tropical – CEINFO), an initiative of knowledge management of the Embrapa Agroindústria Tropical. This quanti-qualitative research is a case study with methodology of participant research. The results showed that the company gave emphasis in the technology for the solution of problems of knowledge management without consider human and cultures issues, what characterize a mechanical approach. Some factors influenced on knowledge management such as low level of participation and corporate communication; reactive culture of the researched group, harming the information sharing and the socialization of knowledge.
