Abstract

In a context of fast-growing unemployment and social inequality, entrepreneuring  comes up as an option and even as a dream for many Brazilians,  representing an alternative to self-employment and to the formation of a local business class.  The main concern of this study is to analyze examples of successful entrepreneurs in the State of Ceará using real-life tales; for that purpose, qualitative research was applied in three small-sized companies located in Fortaleza. The conclusion is that the entrepreneur, with its leadership style and management model, is central to the understanding of the context of entrepreneuring companies’ management, as the person behind the planning of such companies. Moreover, the tales analyzed evidenced the importance of entrepreneuring initiatives as systematic innovation commitment towards the local economy, by fostering growing improvement of life quality and regional development.
