The need to train and develop workers has become a recurrent factor in the International People Management. However, globalization sharpens competition, which often leads to cost cuts. Recent studies indicate that transnational companies located in Brazil don’t train their local work forces. And Brazilian companies, do they develop their employees in their headquarters? And are their policies abroad the same as those in the headquarters? Therefore, this study aims to investigate the organizational relationship of the 71 largest multinationals with their workforces. This objective will be pursued through detailed interviews with managers from nine multinationals in the South of the Brazil and the analysis of investments, through social statements, in education, training and development. This research, of exploratory an nature and a quantitative and qualitative basis, statistically analyzed information concerning the generation of direct and indirect jobs, investment in education, training and development, adjusted net earnings and profit in the main Brazilian multinationals, and, qualitatively, seeks to examine how they invest in their foreign work forces.Downloads
