Ciganos e circenses são grupos diversos e complexos que, em circunstâncias específicas, misturaram-se e configuraram-se como circenses de origem cigana, carregando, assim, mais semelhanças nos seus modos de vida e produção artística. Nesse sentido, procura-se, por meio do cruzamento de variadas fontes, tratar dos encontros, influências e ausências nos modos de se constituírem enquanto grupos profissionais, familiares e culturais. Percebe-se que os ciganos circenses passaram a flexibilizar seus hábitos, ampliando a relação com os não ciganos, e que a itinerância circense é uma opção economicamente orientada, além de uma imposição pautada no preconceito.
