Keywords:

This article aims to expose the elements that create the scenic atmosphere and legitimize the takarazuka theater as a performing language, based on the experience of two shows: Rose of Versailles and Once Upon a Time in America. The analysis was divided into three elements: acting methodology – based on Stanislavski and Tadashi Suzuki –, scenic atmosphere – based on Max Reinhardt’s total theater – and genre performance – based on the bishounen figure used by the otokoyaku actresses. The importance of this research is to understand how this performativity subverts, from its origins, the role of women as artists from the insertion of the "secondary gender" while negotiating with current gender standards through small reinventions and attributes. legacy technicians.
