Author Biography

Gabriele Sofia (University Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 – Montpellier, France), Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 - Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Paris Nord

Gabriele Sofia is teaching theatre studies and physical theatre at the Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 (France). Since 2006 he has carried out an interdisciplinary research project on the neurophysiology of the actor and the spectator between the Sapienza University of Roma and the Maisons des Sciences de l’Homme Paris Nord. From 2009 to 2013 he promoted and organized five editions of the International Conference “Dialogues between Theatre and Neuroscience”. In December 2011 he discussed his Ph.D. thesis, titled The actor-spectator relationship. History, hypotheses and experiments towards the study of the neurobiological level, obtaining the highest academic distinction. He edited the books Dialoghi tra teatro e neuroscienze (2009), Dialogos entre teatro y neurociencias (2010), Nuovi dialoghi tra teatro e neuroscienze (with Clelia Falletti, 2011) and Prospettive su teatro e neuroscienze. Dialoghi e sperimentazioni (with Clelia Falletti, 2012). In 2013 he published his first authored book Le acrobazie dello spettatore. Dal teatro alle neuroscienze e ritorno [The spectator’s acrobatics. From theatre to neuroscience and back].
