This article aims to investigate the suggestive power of verbal signs in O livro negro das cores (The Black Book of Colors), showing that the poetic description of the colors, which is highly connotative and structuring text synaesthetic and metaphorical, gives potential for the work to evoke multisensory chromatic sensations through words. The concept of literary text, from Domício Proença Filho, as the main theoretical basis, lets say that the book, for its high expressive value and graphics sophistication, enables the reader to rediscover and (re) create "colorful" world of stimulus, imaginatively, in which the visual is not mandatory.Downloads
