The article studies the communicational and imaginary effects produced by either authentic or fake vlogs on YouTube through some famous cases in the history of that website where people upload and share videos. In many of those audiovisual productions there is a prevalence of indexical signs – the signification that arises from the contact of the sign with its object, such as footprints or symptoms. Nowadays, those signs are in high demand by the audience to satisfy a collective yearning for a body to body contact with the amateur producers – or those who present themselves as such – of autobiographical vlogs. The theoretical approach of Peircean triadic semiotic is used to analyze identity in the age of social d a, and to analyz th publ c’s doubt regarding what is authentic and what is not, the simulation of authenticity, since to entertain such a doubt seems inseparable from this kind of media experience.Downloads
