Abstract

In the more than 21 years of the GEARTE and in six years that the GEARTE Journal has been published, different movements have taken place in the fields in which the arts and education are related. Movements that have not only affected its consideration within institutions, but also the conceptualizations that have served as a foundation, the development of new research perspectives and the projection that has acquired in different environments and contexts. If the relationship between the arts and education began as an area more specific to teaching institutions (from School to University) and museums, today, and to the extent that artistic practices are also redefined and expanded, this relationship, especially from the pedagogical turn, is increasingly found in other areas and has been appropriate by different groups, interested in other modes of participation and management of the arts in education. This article presents some of these movements, as well as a proposal to link the arts in education with an imaginative consciousness.
