Gender, History and Education: construction and deconstruction
Keywords:
Gender, History of Education, deconstructionAbstract
The essay discusses Joan Scott's key text, " Gender: a useful category of historical analysis", which has been a main reference for students of gender (in Social Sciences, in general, and in Education, in particular) in the Brazilian context. It examines the affinities of Scott's proposal with the poststructuralist studies (emphasizing especially her use of the Foucaultian concept of power and Derrida' s desconstructivist procedure) and the political and pedagogical implications of this approach.
