Childhood Conceptions and the Modern and Contemporary Educational Theories
Keywords:

This paper discusses several conceptions of childhood: Descartes, Nabokov, Hegel, Ariés and others. It comments a metaphisical position and a historicist
position. The naturalist conception of childhood, in the begining, is a metaphisical
position. It has two directions, with Rousseau and Nabokov, for example. Instead Hegel
and Ariês cacht the flag from the historicist, but still they are in the field of metaphysis.
We could give more a step, with Rorty, joining naturalism and historicism. The article
put the childhood conceptions together with the concepcions in Philosophy ofEducation
and Educational Theory. In the end, the text shows a new thinking: the post-modem
field in Philosophy of Education and in Educational Theory, giving up the modem
notion of childhood.
