O conceito exclusão na literatura educacional brasileira: os primeiros 25 anos (1974-1999)

Abstract

Resumo

O artigo investiga o aparecimento do conceito exclusão em quatro periódicos de circulação nacional, no período entre 1974 e 1999. Seu objetivo é identificar os contextos teóricos em que tal conceito passou a ser empregado na pesquisa em educação no Brasil, bem como discutir a precisão ou imprecisão das diferentes significações de que se revestiu. Observa-se que nos primeiros anos seu uso esteve associado ao temas da marginalidade cultural e da evasão repetência, enquanto nos anos 1990 passou a ser utilizado em relação a uma variedade temática bem mais ampla. Conclui-se que a variedade de posturas teóricas aproxima-se mais da aleatoriedade do que da pluralidade, tornando seu emprego pouco eficaz.

Abstract

The paper investigates the advent of the concept exclusion in four journals of education with a nationwide circulation in Brazil in the period ranging from 1974 to 1999. It aims both at identifying the theoretical framework in which this concept has started to be applyed in the researches in the field of education in Brazil and at discussing the accuracy or not of the different meanings it has attained. Its use has first been associated to the issues of cultural marginality or school failure and dropping out, while in the 1990’s it started to be used in relation to a much more varied set of subjects. The conclusion points out the limited efficacy of the utilization of the concept exclusion, since the wide variety of theoretical approaches is more aleatory than plural.
