Manualistica ed editoria scolastica a Napoli (1806-1820)
Abstract
In the context of the “system of public education” defined during the French Decade and consolidated in the years of the Bourbon Restoration, the contribution focuses, in the first part, on the textbooks adopted in the schools of the Kingdom of Naples (1806-1815) and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (1816-1820), considered the main tool of educational modernization, to standardize teaching methods and content. In the second part, we review scholastic-educational publishing by surveying printers/publishers specializing in school textbooks, making explicit the main publishing productions in the period under consideration.
