Author Guidelines

Accepted Text Types for Submission:

ARTICLES and ESSAYS - Original analytical text presenting results of research and/or theoretical-methodological reflection. Articles with up to three authors are accepted, with at least one holding a doctoral degree. In the case of one or two co-authors, they must be master's students, masters, doctoral students, or doctors. The article must have between 40,000 and 60,000 characters including spaces, counted from the beginning of the text, including title, bibliographic references, captions, footnotes, charts, and tables. Abstracts, located before the beginning of the text, should not be included in this count and must have between 100 and 150 words - in the original language, followed by translations into Spanish and English. Three to five keywords should be indicated, observing the updated conceptual matrix and the revised Brazilian Thesaurus of Education (Brased). The keywords should also be translated into both languages. THEMATIC DOSSIER - A collection of articles addressing innovative and relevant themes for the History and Historiography of Education. It must be interinstitutional in nature, consisting of a presentation and five to seven articles, bringing together authors affiliated with at least three different institutions and necessarily including the participation of at least two researchers affiliated with foreign institutions. The dossier must be proposed by one or two doctoral researchers, in the capacity of organizer(s). Only proposals that receive a minimum of five articles approved by the reviewers, with at least two from foreign authors, will be published as a dossier. If this total is not reached, the approved articles may be published individually, after consultation with the authors. The dossier proposal must also include an introduction (maximum 17,000 characters including spaces). All articles in the dossier must be submitted individually through the journal's system (http://seer.ufrgs.br/asphe). Before that, the organizer(s) must send an email to rhe.asphe@gmail.com with the substantiated dossier proposal, including the titles and abstracts of the articles, accompanied by the authorship, academic degree, institution, and country of origin of all authors. The proposals are evaluated by the Editorial Board, which decides on the possibility of submitting the set of articles as a dossier, according to the journal's editorial policy. INTERVIEW - Text consisting of the presentation and conducting of an interview with a researcher of recognized academic production in the field of History of Education, or a speech on the occasion of an award or receipt of an honorary title. The decision on which interviews will be published rests with the editorial team.

REVIEW - Critical study of a recently published text/work (maximum of five years since publication) or a work considered a classic in the field of History of Education. It must include the complete bibliographic reference and an evaluation of the ideas expressed in the work, highlighting the relevance of the theme and approach to the field, as well as the position of the author(s) in the academic debate. Reviews with only one author, holding a master's or doctoral degree, are accepted. The review must be original and no longer than 17,000 characters, including spaces, citations, and bibliographic references, if applicable. EDITORIAL GUIDELINES:

Original texts submitted for evaluation must be sent exclusively through the journal's website: http://seer.ufrgs.br/asphe, for the generation of a registration code and the recording of the evaluation, editing, and publication processes, which can be accessed by authors and editors.

Authors must verify that their manuscripts conform to the editorial guidelines adopted by the journal. Works that do not meet the standards will be rejected.

Original manuscripts submitted for publication must be unpublished and may not be simultaneously submitted to another journal or as a book chapter, with the exception of deposit in SciELO preprints.

Texts submitted to RHE may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, or English. By submitting their manuscripts for evaluation in Portuguese, authors agree to send a translated English version if the article is approved for publication.

Translation costs are the responsibility of the authors.

The standardization of RHE follows standards established by the Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas – ABNT.

Linguistic correction is the responsibility of the authors; however, editors are free to make any changes they deem necessary to adapt the text to the journal's editorial standards.

To ensure compliance with the evaluation criteria for journals of excellence, including geographic scope and institutional diversity, authors must observe a two-year interval between publication and a new submission of text in any format.

For the submission of articles and other types of texts, the following points should be observed:

a) Each article or historical essay may have a maximum of three authors; reviews should have only one author. It is mandatory that at least one of the authors holds a doctoral degree. The others must be master's students, masters, doctoral students, or doctors.

b) In the case of texts with more than one author, the data of all co-authors must be included in the system at the time of submission. If the complete data is not included, the work will be rejected.

c) The identification of authorship must be removed from the text and also from the "File Properties", thus guaranteeing anonymity. The work file, when attached to the submission system, must not contain the name(s) of the author(s). Authorship data and personal information must be filled in at the time of submission, exclusively in the author(s) registration of the system. An exception is made for situations in which the author(s) choose(s) to reveal their identity. Whether or not the authors' identity is revealed must be reported in the Unified Transparency and Authorial Responsibility Form. ORCID registration is mandatory at the time of submission.

Declaration of Responsibility

The authors are responsible for the veracity and originality of the work. The submitted manuscript must be accompanied by a declaration of responsibility, signed by all authors, stating that the study has not been previously published, in whole or in part, in print or electronic media, nor submitted for publication in other journals, and that all authors participated in the intellectual development of its content.

Authors must declare all sources of institutional funding for the study. The name of the institution or person, city, state, and country of origin must be identified. This information must be included in the declaration of responsibility. Brazilian funding agencies require mention in a footnote and, if possible, the process number (to avoid breach of anonymity, this information should be included after the article is approved).

Data Availability Declaration

Authors must indicate whether: (a) The entire dataset supporting the results of this study is available via a link provided by the author, (b) The datasets related to the article will be available upon request to the author(s), (c) The dataset supporting the results of this study cannot be made publicly available, (d) The entire dataset supporting the results of this study has been published in the article itself, or (e) Not applicable (when there is no data to report).

PUBLICATION FORECAST:

Publication is contingent upon the flow of works submitted to RHE, the number of articles under review and editing, including the time spent on processes involving authors, reviewers, and members of the Editorial Team. The Editorial Team is responsible for deciding which articles will be published in each volume of the journal, considering the themes, submission date, and adherence to the IDEIA Principles.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:

When desirable and relevant, it is recommended to name, in a footnote, the individuals who collaborated in the production of the study, even if they do not meet the authorship criteria. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from these individuals before naming them in their acknowledgments (to avoid breach of anonymity, this information should be included after the article has been approved).

Acknowledgments to institutions for financial or logistical support in conducting the study may also be included.

ORCID Registration

From 2018 onwards, RHE requires each author, upon manuscript submission, to provide their ORCID registration number, a unique identifier for academic and research purposes. Registration is free and can be done on the website: http://orcid.org/

ATTENTION: all forms mentioned in the author guidelines are contained in a single file, entitled Unified Transparency and Author Responsibility Form. The form must be read and completed carefully, saved as a PDF, and signed.

Therefore, at the time of submission, authors must attach two files: the article manuscript and the Unified Transparency and Author Responsibility Form.
