A construção do cidadão: os conteúdos escolares nas escolas públicas do Rio Grande do Sul na Primeira República
Abstract
No Rio Grande do Sul, na Primeira República, ocorreu expressiva expansão do ensino, num contexto de modificações sociais e domínio político do Partido Republicano Rio-Grandense. Os conteúdos escolares, nesse processo, foram utilizados pelos dirigentes corno instrumento de construção do cidadão rio-grandense dos novos tempos do capitalismo. A reorganização curricular e programática efetivada nas escolas públicas do Rio Grande do Sul, na Primeira República, possibilitou a adoção de um caráter científico e técnico na estruturação dos conteúdos, o que foi importante para a formação dos trabalhadores que se faziam necessários para a realidade capitalista que os republicanos desejavam consolidar. A construção do cidadão que interessava ao projeto dos positivistas exigiu que a escola, além de ensinar, educasse para a disciplina, para a produtividade e para os cuidados com a saúde. A preparação para o mercado incluiu instrumentos através dos quais os governantes gaúchos prepararam a juventude rio-grandense para a aceitação da lógica do capital.

Abstract
In Rio Grande do Sul, during the First Republic, there was na expressive expansion of teaching, in a context of social changes and political rule by the Rio-Grandense Republic Party. The educational subjects, in this course, were used by the directors as a way to prepare the citizen of Rio Grande do Sul for the new ages of capitalismo The curricular and program reorganization which took place at the publics schools of Rio Grande do Sul, during the First Republic, allowed the adoption of scientific and technical character in the struturation of the subjects, which was important for the creation of workers who would be necessary for the capitalist reality that republicans wanted to consolidate. The formation of the citizen which was of interest for the project of the positivists demanded that the school, beside leaching, educated for the discipline, productivity and the health care. The preparation for the market included means by which the "gaucho" rulers prepared the youth rio-grandense to accept the capital logic.
