Abstract

This article aims to explore the concept of repertoire in the problematization of the actions of Brazilian intellectuals in the educational field. The concept of repertoire designates the strategies that a social group uses to achieve its objectives and express demands in situations of political conflicts. Among the repertoires analyzed, we highlight inquests, manifestos, and national education conferences. Each of these modes has specificities and requires intellectuals to engage in organization, writing, and publication procedures. Among the sources we highlight: the annals of the National Education Conferences of the ABE; the inquests organized and promoted by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo (OESP); and the Manifesto of the Pioneers of New Education and Once again summoned. In the conclusions, we will highlight how, through the repertoires analyzed, intellectuals promoted collective actions capable of catalyzing movements that led to the modernization of society and the educational field.
