FOREIGN PRESENCE IN TEACHER TRAINING IN MATO GROSSO DURING THE CIVIL-MILITARY DICTATORSHIP

Abstract

This article addresses the conditions that allowed foreign presence in the training of teachers in Mato Grosso after the creation of the Cuiabá Teacher Training Center (CTM) in the 1960s. The support for this research was bibliographies that analyze the national situation and foreign aid in Brazil, and, documentary sources, the newspaper O Estado de Mato Grosso. This trajectory shows that CTM was part of the context through which the government enabled the involvement of international agencies in financing and technical assistance in the educational area. In this way, this Center operated with the participation of the International Children's Relief Fund of the United Nations and the Brazilian-American Assistance Program for Elementary Education. Thus, it was possible to understand that the political conditions in Brazil during the Civil-Military Dictatorship contributed to the establishment and continuity of agreements with external agencies, which had a presence in teacher training.
