GOVERNMENT PLANS, MANIFESTOS AND APPEALS TO TEACHER TRAINING IN THE PERIOD OF BOURGEOIS NATIONAL FORMATION (1948-1964)

Abstract

This work aims to explain power relations present in the aspirations underlying various plans and appeals related to teachers’ education in Brazil between 1948 and 1964. It stems from a bibliographical research and from a research based on (official) documents as primary sources. These latter include institutional/governmental guidelines, goals programs, a manifesto, government plans, a government report presented to the National Congress, and a rally. The discussion of the subject is based on the following question: in a period of transition from competitive capitalism to monopoly capitalism since the mid-1950s, how were the guidelines for teacher education designed, whether in experiences or planned expectations? Methodologically, the work is combined with a historiographically recognized periodization and subject. As for teachers’ education, it turns out to be a burning issue, but not only around the period outlined.

Doutora em Educação pela USP, com estágios de pós-doutorado concluídos na USP e na Uniube. Professora Titular da UFU. Vice coordenadora do GT 02 História da Educação da ANPEd. Subcoordenadora do projeto Estados Novos e o ensino de História da Educação na formação de professores em Portugal, Brasil e Espanha no Século XX (Fapemig).
