ECONOMÍA DOMÉSTICA Y REFORMA: EL CONOCIMIENTO ALIMENTARIO EN LA FORMACIÓN ESCOLAR FEMENINA DURANTE EL RÉGIMEN DE IBÁÑEZ (CHILE, 1928-1931)

Abstract

Este artículo estudia la incorporación de contenidos científicos en la enseñanza femenina en el contexto de la reforma educacional de Carlos Ibáñez del Campo en Chile en 1928. Para ello analiza la apropiación realizada por las estudiantes de los contenidos de la asignatura de economía doméstica, especialmente aquellos relacionados con la alimentación, en las revistas estudiantiles de los establecimientos. A través de ellas el artículo da cuenta que la necesidad de preparar a las mujeres para la vida doméstica continuó funcionando como aliciente para su formación científica. Sugiere también que los nuevos contenidos de la economía doméstica en el contexto de la reforma y de la metodología experimental de la Escuela Nueva, profundizaron la formación científica y ofrecieron una instrucción más especializada que se articularía tanto con sus compromisos domésticos, como con el surgimiento de nuevos oficios profesionales.
