HERITAGE AND EDUCATION. SAFEGUARDING AND DISSEMINATION OF THE MEMORY OF THE SCHOOL FROM EDUCATION MUSEUMS IN SPAIN
Abstract
This article analyzes the processes of safeguarding and disseminating the historical-educational heritage in Spain. The history of education is present in the modes of preservation and configuration of individual and social memory. This has meant that over the last twenty years, school heritage has become a fundamental instrument for the continuous re-signification and revaluation of cultures and identities. The great interest in the material and immaterial objects of the school as objects of memory has promoted the creation of a museum culture throughout the country. Numerous Education Museums have proliferated and we will analyze them globally, as centers of educational memory, studying their organization, their ways of conserving school objects and the dissemination practices they carry out. In particular, we will analyze the heritage of the Complutense Museum of Education as a space for historical-educational research, offering some keys to the use and dissemination of its collections and materials.
