Antagonismos e resistências Cecília Meireles na imprensa carioca (1930-1933)
Abstract
In the historiography of Brazilian education, studies on Cecília Meireles in the educational debate have contemplated her role as editor of the “Página de Educação” of the Diário de Notícias, between 1930 and 1933, allowing the conclusion that she ended her comments on the subject when she signed the chronicle “A Despedida”. The spokesperson for educators committed to the ideas of Escola Nova would have been, from then on, Frota Pessoa, who began to write for Jornal do Brasil. However, when following research clues about her work as a journalist, we will surprise her by subscribing to the “Educação” column of the newspaper A Nação. Inventorying the topics discussed by her makes it possible to understand how the defense she made of the Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Educação Nova, of which she was a signatory, took place in dialogue with the Catholic educators who published in the journal, thus contributing to broaden the analysis of the repercussion of the said manifest.
