Flow rate and use frequency of sanitary appliances

This paper presents the results of the determination of the typical flow rate and frequency of use for sanitary appliances obtained from data collected during the consumption monitoring research about residential profile water consumption and internal uses in residences located in west side of São Paulo city. Seven houses were monitored within seven days. From the data collected and by employing electronic spreadsheet it was possible to elaborate flow and frequency use histograms of the sanitary appliances. The results pointed out the appliances mean flow rate as well the dairy frequency of use where the shower with a mean flowrate of 0,0683 L/s and daily frequency of 6 uses; kitchen tap with 0,0200 L/s and 80 uses; wc cistern with 0,0633 L/s and 8 uses; clothes washing machine with 0,0200 L/s and 10 uses; mini-tank for washing clothes with 0,0550 L/s and 7 uses; clothes washing machine associated connected to a tank with 0,0617 L/s and 12 uses; and finally the tank with 0,0383 L/s and 10 uses.
