The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped higher education globally, with important effects in Latin America, where structural inequalities intensified the abrupt shift to remote learning. This article critically examines the evolution, conceptualization, and implementation of hybrid education in the region after COVID-19. Drawing on a systematic literature review based on PRISMA, it identifies core challenges and opportunities, including pedagogical innovations, persistent inequities, and institutional adaptations. The analysis argues that hybrid education can enhance flexibility and inclusion but may reproduce inequalities without systemic reforms and proposes research and policy paths to strengthen its transformative potential.
