Abstract

This work has the intention to investigate the changes in musical listening since the sprouting of inscription processes as the phonograph and, later, the analogical magnetic recording and its reproduction in cassettes and vinyl records. I also think about the digitization process in music and its reproduction in media that, apparently, presents a bigger transparency in reproduction. I understand this “transparency” as an attempt to hide the materialities of media, ignoring a strong sensorial appeal in the relation between equipment and users. I consider noise as one of the present and indispensable elements in our relation with the various media, creating meanings that go beyond the merely textual.
