The Public library as an instrument for the construction of citizenship

The paper emphasizes on the mediation of public library for crea ting citizenship. With this end purpose in mind, appealing to consider it as an educative environment promoter of a rendezvous for citizens. Primarily, describes a social issue such as that where the difficulty of research takes place and which has to do with the way people have changed their representations about the public library along with the current social and government interventions which have been being generated in the largest cities of Colombia. Following, spells out the most important methodological elements of this research paper. Subsequently, illustrates the main findings in the enquiring over boys and girls representations on public libraries. Winding up, displays an interpretative proposal on the sense cores of public library as social institution, educative environment and political socialization setting.
