The Tourism as mediator cultural in urban fringe: the experience of Lomba do Pinheiro, Porto Alegre, RS

The project Lombatur proposes to use tourism as a mediator between the residents Lomba do Pinheiro and heritage site, with the goal of creating tourism routes within the district for heritage education and enjoyment of the residents. The methodology includes an inventory of heritage, planning of routes for local tourism, and later stage, the training of residents as tour guides. Use is made of stories and life histories to identify cultural sites and the creation of tourism routes. It is a strategy that allows social actors recognize themselves as subjects of their own history, to identify, within the framework of everyday life, elements of recovery of memory, heritage education. Concludes that the action encouraged increased self-esteem and socio-cultural inclusion of social actors, with the empowerment of the territory by people, exceeding initial expectations.Downloads
