Building relationships between the concept of declassification and folksonomy

through Knowledge Organization Systems representative of social diversity

Abstract

This study aims to review the literature on the concept of declassification and folksonomy as a social indexing system to identify their potential relationships within Information Science and the Knowledge Organization and Representation. Using qualitative bibliographic research methods and content analysis, we analyzed papers dedicated to studying related topics, thereby contributing to achieving the proposed objective: to analyze the construction of relationships between the concept of declassification and folksonomies, aiming to develop more collaborative models of Knowledge Organization Systems. Additionally, the study seeks to address the following research question: by reflecting social indexing, what is the potential of folksonomy to contribute to discussions related to the concept of declassification and, consequently, to conceive Knowledge Organization Systems that are more integrated into diverse social contexts? Through inference and categorization processes, considering the research universe, three studies were identified that help reinforce relationships between folksonomy and the concept of declassification. The results also revealed that, by involving users and their informational needs, it is possible to establish connections between this Knowledge Organization Systems and the concept of declassification, and to contribute to the development of Knowledge Organization Systems that are integrated with social diversity. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of expanding the discussion within Information Science and the Knowledge Organization and Representation to support the creation of collaborative, inclusive social indexing systems that are open to user contributions.
