Articles of UFRGS represented in Web of Science: highly cited and the citing papers

This paper uses bibliometric indicators of activity and impact to analyse articles published by authors from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), represented in the Web of Science (WoS) at the period 2000-2009. The review covers theoretical visibility, citation and indicators of scientific production. The sample includes the 63 articles that received more than 100 citations, to analyze productivity, language, journal title, coauthorship, collaboration and citations received by the articles. About the citing articles, checks the type of document, the origin of the work (country and institution), the titles of the journals in which they are registered, the year of publication, language and area in which they are ranked in the WoS. Cited and citing were produced in co-authorship, recorded in English, in the majority of titles in foreign journals and in international collaboration. The predominant areas of the highly cited and citing were also “Chemistry”.Downloads
