Abstract

The Librarianship belongs to the Social Sciences great area and is very common to find their courses or centers linked to schools of education. Much has been written about the "social and educational roles" of the librarian, and it raises many questions about the interdisciplinarity between Librarianship and related areas, especially in the Social Sciences. Thinking about these issues, and focusing on librarian's graduation in Brazil, this study developes a critical reflection about these connections, providing an overview of the intersections and joints present in undergraduate courses in Library Science from South of Brazil, by analyzing their curriculum. Based on the identification of which centers undergraduate courses were linked and which subjects were directed to education and sociology, it was concluded that there are few connections between these areas, checked by offering compulsory or eletive disciplines, showing an average of one or two subjects who have only general ideas about the sociology and education.
