Abstract

This article brings to light the importance of the work of a professional category that has always been in shadow and is now endangered in the Internet era: the drivers that work for the press. It seeks to demonstrate their relevance in newsmaking, both in its most basic task behind the wheel as in the very process of investigation and in various other forms of collaboration. The article tries to afford an opportunity to enrich the history of journalism in Brazil and sets out, though briefly, the changes in news production, with the adoption of digital technology and the progressive reduction of street reportage.
