Abstract

The article identifies and relates the periods of Military Transformation with the positions on the use of the Main Battle Tank in the post-Cold War period. It aims to contribute to the academic debate about the importance of the material and the generation of combat power by the Brazilian Ministry of Defence.

Alexandre Checheliski é Major de Cavalaria do Exército Brasileiro, aluno do Curso de Comando e Estado-Maior da Escola de Comando e Estado-Maior do Exército (ECEME).

José Miguel Quedi Martins, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)

José Miguel Quedi Martins é professor adjunto da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) e doutor em Ciência Política pela mesma instituição. Anteriormente, foi professor de História na Faculdade Porto-Alegrense (FAPA), na graduação e pós-graduação. Possui mestrado em História pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) e especialização em Integração Regional e Mercosul pela UFRGS. É pesquisador do Instituto Sul-Americano de Política e Estratégia (ISAPE), do Núcleo de Estratégia e Relações Internacionais (NERINT-UFRGS) e do Grupo de Trabalho de Políticas de Defesa,Inteligência e Segurança do Centro Estudos Internacionais Sobre Governo (CEGOV/UFRGS), com ênfase nos temas Integração Regional, Conflitos Internacionais, Guerra Local e Digitalização.
