Abstract

This paper refers to the Control as a function of the Administration Science and its use as a main object of Internal Auditing, focusing the evolution of Internal Control in the Public Administration. It also approaches the organization, role and importance of Internal Control, as well as the difficulties to fix effective control in public sector due to its peculiarities. At the end, there is the proposal of some steps to establish an effective integration between the Central Department of the Internal Control System and the units or control functions of the Public Administration, based on the Internal Control System of the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
