PREDICTABILITY OF THE ENTERPRISES COMPETITIVENESS: A STUDY OF ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

The objective of this study is to assess the position of companies within ( ) 2005-2007 provides a competitive position in the same period ( ) 2010-2012, for a metric indicator of the dimensions most frequently in the literature: organizational performance and growth. To this end, we selected all firms with complete data for the two periods referred to in database Economatica 173 companies resulting in 16 different economic sectors. Data were subjected to the treatment of z - scores to eliminate the " market effect ", companies were ranked by a regression line with a single factor of the indicators of the first period in three groups (high, medium and low) and following was used discriminant analysis method with the dependent variable the variable using the classification of period 1, with respect to the independent variables of the period 2. The study results indicate that performance metrics, specifically profitability of equity combined with measures of growth (sales, profit and assets) are able to predict the competitiveness of 57 % for companies in the group of high competitiveness, 45 % for the average competitiveness of companies and 59 % for the low competitiveness, Indicating possible to predict for a few years the competitive position in the group 1.
