Por uma sociologia polifônica
introduzindo vozes femininas no cânone sociológico

Controvérsias recentes em torno do cânone sociológico têm pontuado a necessidade de se pensar o processo de apagamento e silenciamento de contribuições “não-ocidentais” e femininas à disciplina. Ao enfatizar a dimensão androcêntrica do cânone sociológico, nosso objetivo é contribuir para a construção de uma sociologia menos viesada e limitada a partir da inclusão de vozes femininas excluídas da história oficial da disciplina. Inicialmente, efetuamos uma breve descrição das condições que possibilitaram a exclusão daquelas vozes, tomando como exemplo as sociólogas de Chicago, e a emergência de uma concepção particular de teoria e de pesquisa associada à formação do cânone clássico. Em seguida, ao tensionarmos o uso de termos como “fundadores”, “clássicos” e “cânone”, defendemos que a existência de um cânone, clássico ou não, desempenha papel central para a identidade da disciplina e da própria teoria social. Por fim, de forma a incluir de maneira produtiva as contribuições das pioneiras da sociologia, propomos substituir a metáfora literária do cânone por uma metáfora musical: um tipo de polifonia que enfatiza o contraste entre diferentes vozes e, ao mesmo tempo, estabelece como elas podem ser combinadas numa tradição comum que torna o diálogo possível.
