This review analyses Modos de narrar a sociologia brasileira, a volume edited by André Botelho, Maurício Hoelz, and Lucas Carvalho and released in 2025, which compiles excerpts from 26 academic memoirs submitted by Brazilian sociologists between 1998 and 2023. The review analyses the work of memory embodied in these documents, discusses their value for research on the history of sociology, and examines the theoretical framework proposed by the editors. Finally, it argues that memoirs can also be understood as “performances” geared toward contemporary intellectual controversies.
