About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal Saberes Plurais is a publication linked to the Graduate Program in Health Education - Professional Master's Degree - of the Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Its mission is to disseminate scientific production in the area of teaching/health education and in health, work management and health education, with a focus on Public Health (knowledge area CNPq 4.06.00.00-9 - Collective Health), presenting results of innovative research, encouraging academic debate for the production of new knowledge. Publications must contribute to the production of knowledge/communication to society on topics within the scope of the journal, prioritizing texts that qualify health training and education/work in the Unified Health System (SUS). It is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, professors, education/health technicians, workers and users of the SUS. Articles can be presented in Portuguese, Spanish or English, they must be original and unpublished. They must not be under review by another journal.

It accepts articles in the sections: Original articles (field research or literature review), Teaching and student experiences (experience reports), Comments, Essays and Debates, Special articles, Reviews and Newsletter.

Peer Review Process

When selecting articles for publication, the scientific merit of the work and its adequacy to the editorial standards adopted by the Journal are evaluated. Every text sent for publication is submitted to a pre-evaluation by the editors. Once approved, it is forwarded to peer review (at least two ad hoc reviewers). Both the identity of the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential (double-blind review). The material will be returned to the authors if the reviewers suggest changes and/or corrections. In case of divergence of opinions, the text will be forwarded to a third referee for arbitration. The final decision on the merits of the work is the responsibility of the chief-editor.

In the process of evaluating submissions, the journal recommends using the evaluation form (Peer Review Form), available at the link: Evaluation form

This form is forwarded to the reviewers at the time of invitation to evaluate the articles.

The journal recommends to reviewers:
- Opinions with constructive comments and questions in order to clarify what was not explained by the authors.
- Opinions that support decision-making.
- Opinions that contribute to the improvement of the work presented.
- Make insertions and deletions to try to improve the flow of the text, without, however, modifying the form or trying to appear as a co-author of the work. These alterations must be requested if necessary, and the reviewer may suggest an inclusive linguistic revision of the text.
- Indicate additional readings that can improve the article, without taking away the integrity and originality of the author of the article.

Reviewers must declare the existence of conflicts of interest as soon as they receive the review request, declining the invitation.

To receive recognition for their work as a reviewer for Saberes Plurais magazine, reviewers can add the review to their Publons/Web of Science profile. See: Guidelines for adding the review to your Publons profile

The list with the identification and institutional affiliation of the peer reviewers is published with each new issue of the journal (Expediente). From 2024, in the last number of the year, the annual list of reviewers will be published.

The texts are the responsibility of the authors, not necessarily coinciding with the point of view of the publishers and the Editorial Board of the journal.
