MANUFACTURING STRATEGIES: AN ACTION-RESEARCH IN A BUSINESS SEGMENT OF METAL-MECHANICAL

This work presents a manufacturing strategic planning proposal for a company of the metal mechanic industry. The need for new manufacturing actions is due a technological change in the production system of its main product. Due to the increase in the market share of products manufactured with the support of the electronics, it is extremely important for the company to adapt to this new reality and to adopt an alternative technology. However, this technology is totally new for the company and it represents a clear market opportunity. Therefore, starting from the diagnosis of current situation, and by means of an action research, this study intends to supply subsidies and to guide the formulation of the company manufacturing strategy, contributing to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.Downloads
