PARTNERSHIPS AND STRATEGIC ALLIANCES: CLASSIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT. A CASE STUDY IN A REGIONAL OFFICIAL PROGRAM
Keywords:
Partnership, strategic alliances, bank of development,Abstract
The Bank of Northeast launched the Enterprising Partnerships program in May 2000. Based upon literature on strategic alliances and partnerships, this paper aims at classifying the type of partnership applied to the case study based on ten theoretical typologies. The program is evaluated in the light of alliances management theory. The data collecting was carried out between January and March 2003, originating from debates supported by structured guidelines with the project participants, experienced practices, and secondary material. However, difficulties are verified in the case of the theoretical framing. The main inconsistencies are: a greater effort is made in the elaboration of the partnerships and the culture of fulfillment of partnerships by the institution and partners involved does not exist yet.
