Abstract

In this article, we intend to discuss the incidence of psychoanalytic theory in the investigation of language acquisition. It is, therefore, a work of a theoretical-methodological nature, insofar as it focuses on the place occupied by theory in scientific investigation. It is noteworthy that the term incidence excludes the application of a theoretical body – whatever it may be – to children's speech. In this proposal, the theory is focused, then, from the point of view of a device that allows the investigator to listen to the resistance that the child's speech opposes to their objectives of a theoretical-empirical-methodological nature. As an example of this listening for resistance, fragments of a speech therapy clinical case are transcribed. The analysis of these fragments pointed to the psychoanalytic theory as a device that allowed the researcher to listen to the child's speech as resistance to the theoretical-methodological model assumed by him, calling into question the application, to this speech, of his concepts and propositions.
