ABSTRACT: Hyperlexia is a neurological condition characterized by spontaneous and early acquisition of reading decoding skills, but with inability in reading interpretation and comprehension. It is often associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The aim of this article is to investigate the results of Brazilian studies on hyperlexia in children with ASD from a psycholinguistic perspective. The databases consulted were: CAPES journal, SciELO, and Lilacs, with no time frame, and Google Scholar, from 2018 to 2022. The descriptors used were: (a) hyperlexia; (b) autism; (c) ASD; (d) psycholinguistics; (e) early reading; and (f) early decoding, combined by the Boolean operator "and". PRISMA was used for screening, and of the 497 studies, 4 were integrated into the analysis. The main issues were: the lack of clarity and difficulty in identifying ASD with comorbid hyperlexia; relevance of curricular flexibilization and teacher training; multidisciplinary team performance to support and develop the learning of children with autism and hyperlexia; and the lack of articles on the subject. It is concluded that there are few studies on the subject, mainly in the educational area, bringing together few participants. Therefore, further research is needed on prevalence, identification and practices for the development of reading comprehension.
