The Journey of the Physical Education and Occupational Therapy Service (SEFTO) at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre is a traditional event that usually occurs every four years; however, due to the pandemic, it can only be resumed in 2024. This is a particularly special year as the service celebrates its 45th anniversary. Over time, the service has grown, transformed, and expanded its approaches in parallel with the construction of the Unified Health System (SUS) and public health policies. Today, it is a multidisciplinary service composed of 24 professionals from the fields of Pedagogy, Physical Education, and Occupational Therapy, with a plural and diverse identity, serving as a reference for training professionals in Public Health.
With great pride and joy, we honor and celebrate this trajectory at the 13th Journey of the Service, on August 15 and 16. The focus is on the completeness of care and multidisciplinary approaches in health aimed at promoting physical activity, occupational performance, and playfulness in health care practices; preventing and treating chronic diseases; and employing pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies for comprehensive care. The program was diverse; the first day was held online, featuring four workshops and presentations of scientific papers. The second day was in-person, with roundtables, lectures, and interdisciplinary panels led by professors with recognized expertise in the field. We had 27 papers presented in the format of free themes, divided into categories: original research, review studies, and case reports. Some of the themes explored included the importance of physical exercise in chronic patients, the role of pedagogy in multidisciplinary teams, and the intersections between health and education. We hope that the studies presented at the event can inspire, nourish, and strengthen multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary work, contributing to the continuous improvement of the SUS for everyone.
