This paper is the result of dialogues between the self-portrait and the selfie, as a contemporary social phenomenon, proposed by the exhibition “The self: between self-portrait and selfie” looking to give visibility to the museum's collection and provoking the public to participate through a work in progress. The examination of these interactions upholds the present study, that includes a bibliographic review of the concepts presented and proposes a thought on the relationships established between them. Such analyzes allow us to better understand the experience with selfies as a model of communicating vessels between collections, audiences and digital social media, towards a connected museum.
