Abstract

This text is empirically based on my experience as a higher education teacher since 2005, starting from a fundamental question: what are the causes of the current situation of malaise, suffering and symptoms reported by female students at the higher education in Brazil? The theoretical-methodological perspective adopted is anchored in Marxian materialist feminism and in the contribution of Freud and Lacan, in particular, the theory of the four discourses of the latter to understand the relationships between singularity and totality, mode of production and reproduction, alienation and consciousness and their impacts on concrete social relations in the Brazilian academic environment a dialectical approach to the social issue based on the unity of class, race, gender/sex and subjectivity. Some elements that stand out in this first look are related to a certain “academic etiquette”, an element that seems to be a relevant category for this research.
