The ‘New High School’ and the Technical Education of Federal Institutes

Abstract

This paper analyzes the contradictions arising from the “New High School” and the integrative approach of Technological Education within it, as well as their relation to the world of labor, unveiling their influence on the educational process of young adults enrolled in Brazilian Federal Institutes. To this end, the analysis relies on a diagnostic and descriptive examination of scholarly works — articles and research findings — grounded in the critical-dialectical method and official documents. The study demonstrates that the challenges related to Secondary Education and Integrated Technological Education may contribute to school dropout, the persistent decline of education, and the intensification of the “social question.”
