The objective of this article is to analyze the Brazilian foreign policy and the Itamaraty's position in the 1970s. Although our main goal is the analysis of the foreign policy in two Brazilians dictatorial governments (Medici and Geisel), it´s important to observe how the Itamaraty and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs related to the military dictatorial government at the time, wheather there was a relationship of subservience or independence in relation to the Presidency of the Republic and the military corporation that surrounds him. Finally, the main hypothesis is that foreign policy is very similar in both governments and that it was possible to implement it insofar as the MRE has 'freedom' to act.Downloads
