O circuito cultural das cartilhas no primeiro governo republicano sul-rio-grandense
Abstract
O presente trabalho contempla o estudo de cartilhas de alfabetização adotadas na Instrução Pública do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul entre 1890 e 1930. Para a análise dessas obras, tenho por referência os Estudos Culturais e o privilégio dado por esses estudos à linguagem para a produção de significados. Discuto prescrições legais do governo republicano sul-rio-grandense para a produção e circulação de livros, procurando mostrar como esses processos eram controlados por órgãos governamentais visando ao exame, à aprovação e adoção de cartilhas ou primeiros livros de leitura. Inicialmente, discuto algumas intervenções de órgãos governamentais no processo de produção de cartilhas; em seguida, apresento algumas formas de controle exercidas sobre o processo de circulação de cartilhas; por fim, analiso algumas estratégias utilizadas pelos representantes do governo para garantir a unidade de método e doutrina através do processo de produção e circulação de cartilhas, destacado também os efeitos de algumas contingências.

Abstract
The present work contemplates studying teaching primers used in the Instrução Pública do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Public Instruction in the state of Rio Grande do Sul) between 1890 and 1930. To analyze these works, I have the Cultural Studies and the privilege given by these studies to language for meaning making as a reference. I have discussed legal prescriptions given by the republican government of Rio Grande do Sul for production and circulation of books, trying to show how these processes were controlled by government departments as to examine, approve of, and use the primers or first readers. In the beginning, I discuss some governmental interventions in the process of prime making; I provide next some ways of control upon the process of prime circulation; and finally, I analyze some strategies used by government representatives to guarantee method and doctrine unity by the process of primer production and circulation, highlighting also effects for some contingencies.
