Desenhocop: o ensino através de imagens
Abstract
Abstract
The article focuses on the use of iconographies in the didactic context. A brief historical introduction about the presence of iconography repertoires in the official curricula in Brazil since the 19th Century allows us to argue the existence of a "visual education" in process. This historical context gives us the substract for doing a formal and a content analysis of some very popular print images used by teachers and pupils in the second half of the 20th Century in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. This analysis is the starting point for the discussion about image appropriation and resignification processes. In this case, these processes could be understood as the result of an image displacement - from its original context of production reaching over to another circuit, i. e., the pedagogical one. We present some of the operations that give conditions to this image displacement, such as reproduction, copy, and adaptation.
Keywords: iconography, visual culture, visual education.
