Abstract
ResumoO artigo analisa as coleções para crianças e jovens apresentadas nos catálogos de venda da livraria carioca de Baptiste-Louis Garnier para o ano de 1858, e de seus sucessores, para 1920. Como modelo da política de exportação da indústria editorial francesa e, com isso, de formação do patrimônio de obras necessário ao desenvolvimento de nosso comércio livreiro e autonomia literária, os Garnier apostaram na longevidade do gênero "clássicos infantis", reeditando-os e adaptando-os, o que demonstra uma intrincada rede de relações entre sua filial latino-americana e a matriz francesa, bem como os efeitos de um trabalho de formação do gosto literário das crianças e jovens brasileiros.

GARNIER BOOKSHOP AND THE HISTORY OF THE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN IN BRAZIL: GENESIS AND DEVELOPMENT OF A LITERARY FIELD
Abstract
This paper analysis the collections of books for children and youths found in the catalogues of Baptiste-Louis Garnier bookshop in the year of 1858, and further collections, with new editors, until the year of 1920. Being a model of the French polices for the editorial market, and in an attempt of developing the Brazilian literary market, the Garnier bookshop invested in the classic books for children, re-editing and adapting them. Such behavior shows an intricate relationship between the Latin-American branch and its French main office as well as the way their polices influenced the literary taste of children and youths in Brazil.

LA LIBRERÍA GARNIER Y LA HISTORIA DE LOS LIBROS PARA NIÑOS EN BRASIL: GÉNESIS Y FORMACIÓN DE UN CAMPO LITERARIO (1858-1920)
Resumen
El texto analiza las colecciones para niños y jóvenes presentadas en los catálogos de venta de la librería carioca de Baptiste-Louis Garnier para el año de 1858, y de sus sucesores, para 1920. Como modelo de la política de exportación de la industria editorial francesa y, con eso, de formación del patrimonio de obras necesario al desarrollo de nuestro comercio librero y autonomía literaria, los Garnier apostaron en la longevidad del género “clásicos infantiles”, reeditándolos y adaptándolos, lo que demuestra una intrincada red de relaciones entre su filial latino-americana y la matriz francesa, bien como los efectos de un trabajo de formación del gusto literario de los niños y jóvenes brasileños.
