Educação infantil: espaços, tempos, desafios
Abstract
ResumoEste artigo aborda a história da Educação Infantil no município de Pelotas / RS, considerando os espaços institucionalizados que foram sendo construídos para as crianças menores de seis anos, desde meados do século XIX até o início do século XXI, bem como o tipo de atendimento proporcionado conforme a classe social a que se destina. Ao longo dos anos, esses espaços acompanharam, em grande parte, as transformações que ocorreram nessa área da educação no cenário nacional. Nesse sentido, destacam-se as escolas municipais de educação infantil (emeis), antigas creches municipais, nas quais atuam professoras que cotidianamente enfrentam problemas e desafios presentes nesse âmbito da educação brasileira.

Abstract
The present paper approaches the history of Children Education in the city of Pelotas/RS, considering the institutionalized spaces which have been built for children under six years old, from the mid 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century, as well as the kind of service provided according to the social class to which it is aimed at. Along these years, these spaces followed, mostly, the changes that occurred in this area of education in the national scenery. In this aspect, the Municipal Schools of Children Education – previously known as Municipal Creches – are highlighted, in which teachers usually work facing problems and challenges which are present in the environment of Brazilian education.
